THREE BOMB BLASTS
A suspected anti-government insurgent was found dead and two government security personnel were wounded Saturday night after a series of bomb blasts on the outskirts of Kathmandu Valley, The Himalayan Times newspaper reported Sunday. Property worth thousands of US dollars was damaged when a pressure cooker bomb went off at the office building of Chhaimale Village, the independent English daily quoted Deepak Ranjit, superintendent of the Kathmandu District Police Office, as saying. The police also found a beheaded body of a suspected anti-government insurgent inside the building, Ranjit said. Meanwhile, two security men were wounded when a bomb disposal squad was trying to diffuse a bomb at Ramchebhanjyang of the same village, he added. The anti-government guerrillas intensified their violent activities in various parts of the country in the past few weeks. Over 9,000 Nepalese people have lost their lives since the anti-government insurgency broke out in the Himalayan kingdom in early 1996.
